"We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known." - Carson McCullers
Ciao! I'd like to welcome everyone reading this - friends, family, random lurkers of the Internet. I'm sure you all know by now, as I haven't stopped talking about it, that in exactly one week, I will officially be studying in Florence, Italy for the spring semester. Saying I'm excited would be an understatement. I've dreamed about Italy since I was a kid. And when my brother studied abroad in the same city over four years ago, I knew I had to do it too. How's that nostalgia, Alan?
So yes, this little 5' 2" girl is going to Italy. Not only will I be traveling to the land of my ancestors and the origin of Nutella, but I have created this blog to keep in touch with everyone back home. I plan to write as often as possible and will always post the newest update on my Facebook page. If you follow along until the end of my journey, thank you in advance for putting up with me.
Well, I best be going now. I still have to finish shopping and endure the frustration of packing away four months of clothes. Come back in a week; I'll be posting something the morning before I leave! A presto!
Lights out,
Britt
